1. What brought you to CrossFit?
I've been at Black Bolt for 2.5yrs now. Prior to Crossfit I had done mostly Cardio and bodyweight exercises. I knew I probably needed to add some strength training. My sister convinced me to come to a Bring-a-Friend class one day and after some coaxing from my husband, I joined (and followed and joined 2 months later). So it's a family affair for us!
2. What was your first impression?
The idea of CrossFit itself was intimidating, but Black Bolt put all that at ease. The community is welcoming and everyone is from all different walks of life and capabilities. I love the ability to adapt to each athlete's level and regardless everyone is there cheering the next person on, whether it's getting a PR or completing a WOD. The people make everything about Crossfit worth it.
3. What’s been your biggest accomplishment?
I think the biggest accomplishments come in the day-to-day progress. Learning to be accepting and patient with yourself through the highs, the lows and in-between. Understanding that progress isn't just a straight line and there are lots of twists and turns along the way.
4. What are you working on now?
Everything! :-) I have a love/hate relationship with the jump-rope and box jumps. Some days I've got them and some days I don't. I would also really like to work on gymnastics and get a pull-up.
5. What’s your favorite Black Bolt CrossFit memory?
We've had so many laughs and good times during classes. Hitting up 5:30am class every morning is really the best way to start the day and makes me a "better me" for the rest of the day!
