1. What brought you to CrossFit?

I started working out with one of my friends who does CrossFit and she repeatedly encouraged me to try it. I eventually contacted the box she was a member of, went in for an intro class, and immediately loved it! Coming from a soccer and tennis background, I was excited to do something that would help me gain muscle instead of simply build better endurance.

2. What was your first impression?

I was a bit intimidated by how strong everyone was, but excited by the possibility that if I put in enough work I could be that strong too over time! Everyone was so friendly, and I'm incredibly grateful for the community created by CrossFit. Everyone encourages each other and pushes each other to not only do their best in every work out, but have fun while doing it!

3. What’s been your biggest accomplishment?

Definitely the mental toughness that has developed as I've continued doing CrossFit. Oftentimes simply finishing the WOD is a huge accomplishment, especially if the Assault Bike is involved. :) That mental toughness has carried over into other areas of my life; for example, as a college student, persevering through homework assignments/huge projects that are the last thing I might want to work on that day instead of procrastinating.

4. What are you working on now?

Technique and form, whether that's in lifts, gymnastics, or endurance work. I really enjoy focusing on the details that improve movements even by just a little bit!

5. What’s your favorite Black Bolt CrossFit memory?

Rather than one particular memory, I love the opportunity to work out with and get to know everyone in the Black Bolt community! They are so kind and encouraging, and I love talking with them about life and greatly appreciate all the advice they've given me on how to improve movements like DU's and toes-to-bar!
