1. What brought you to CrossFit?
I previously managed a CF and MMA gym before, which naturally got me into CF. If I was selling it to members, I needed to be doing it. I loved it, it was an efficient way to get an excellent workout and fun to learn new skills (mostly olympic weight lifting) that I wasn't doing before. I need to be physically fit for my job, and CF keeps me able to do what I love. Exercise shouldn't be a chore, and with CF it's not. It's fun, it's different every day, and it's an awesome community to be a part of!
2. What was your first impression?
Black Bolt provides elite level programming. There's no arguing that. You're not going to find better programming anywhere else. From someone who looks at the body from a mechanical perspective every day I can tell you Black Bolt programming is designed to improve and maintain your physical frame :)
3. What’s been your biggest accomplishment?
It's an accomplishment making fitness a foundation of my life. It's a construction hobby, but it's a foundation of my lifestyle. When I'm not pushing myself in the gym, other areas of my life reflect it. Fitness energizes my mind, my drive, my attitude and everything I do.
4. What are you working on now?
I'm constantly working on my endurance. Pushing my ability to endure has taught me that boundaries are just mental road blocks. When I take a break during a workout, it's not because I physically need to, it's because my mind is mentally telling me to stop. When I can push through that barrier it takes me to a new level physically and mentally. Things that translate to life outside of the gym.
5. What’s your favorite Black Bolt CrossFit memory?!
Doing the CF Open for the first time. It's a different level when you're competing (even though it's really against yourself.) It's crazy to get the jitters before a workout because you want to push yourself and perform well. Just competing in it is an accomplishment in itself, but it gives you a benchmark to compare your new self every year!!!
