1. What brought you to CrossFit?
4 years ago, one of my co-workers convinced me to try CrossFit and promised me I would fall in love with it. I was 48, had never considered myself a huge athlete, and had never even touched a barbell in my life. I have scoliosis and my doctor was telling me the only thing standing between me and considering surgery for it was whether I could stay out of back pain. CrossFit has enabled me to get stronger than I have ever been, especially in my core, which has helped immensely with my back. Black Bolt's coaches all are hugely focused on proper form above all else, so I feel confident that I am doing movements safely, and making gains every week!
2. What was your first impression?
My first impression of Black Bolt was how friendly and welcoming Jason and the members were! I made connections with folks at the first workout! The Bolt family has grown so much during my almost 2 years here, and that closeness is a constant. You want to give your best everyday for each other :)
3. What’s been your biggest accomplishment?
Not really one particular thing..just showing up day after day to do the hard work and be dedicated to being healthy and strong. Also being able to workout and keep up with my sons (25 and 20) when they joined Black Bolt has been a lot of fun! To be doing all this in another 10, 15, 20 years... that will be my accomplishment!
4. What are you working on now?
Tracking macros and nutrition has been a focus for me this fall. Looking forward to joining up with the gymnastics class in the new year to improve those skills and get even more core strength.
5. What’s your favorite Black Bolt CrossFit memory?!
My favorite Black Bolt memories include the inspirational Murph workouts for Memorial Day, (and maybe not for print) seeing Coach Jason fall over laughing about Whitney's wenis, and pretty much anything Patrick says at an early morning class:)
